MIND•SPACE•TIME spent two weeks in the Summer of 2018 working with the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco to produce BEYOND THE PAINT, a podcast that accompanies a major exhibition titiled Contemporary Muslim Fashions. The Museum’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) researched, wrote, and recorded the podcast which explores the key themes of the exhibit and examines several key pieces from the show. It was the 2019 MUSE Gold Award Winner for Best Podcast from the American Alliance of Museums.
TAB members interviewed several Muslim teenagers from around the Bay Area to get their thoughts on the four main themes of the exhibit: Modest Fashion, Individual Expression, Global Exchange, and Social Media
And the TAB members created an audio tour that critically analyzes a dozen objects on display in the exhibition.
